Poland: Canal+ sells its stake in TVN to Scripps Networks Interactive for €584m

The French media group Canal+, along with the Polish media conglomerate the ITI Group, sold their majority stake (52.7%) in TVN, the Polish free and pay-TV group, to the American media group Scripps Networks Interactive for €584m, subject to regulatory approval, on 16/03/2015. Southbank Media, the British subsidiary of Scripps Networks Interactive, will complete the transaction and will assume a bond debt of €840m.

TVN, the top commercial television group in Poland (22% audience share and 33% of the Polish TV advertising market in 2014), has a 32% stake in nc+, the top Polish pay-TV group and the main football broadcaster in the country. The Canal+ group retains its majority stake of 51% in nc+.
