France: Ligue 2 club Nîmes Olympique to be "demoted one division" due to match-fixing

Nîmes Olympique (Ligue 2) will be "demoted one division" at the end of the 2014-15 season, stated Sébastien Deneux, president of the LFP disciplinary committee, on 17/03/2015. "The Nîmes Olympique club attempted four times, through two of its officers, to arrange the results of fixtures and questioned the integrity of competitions," said Sébastien Deneux.

The LFP's disciplinary committee met on 16 and 17/03/2015 to investigate the case regarding the integrity of games played in Ligue 2 at the end of the 2013-14 season. Nîmes Olympique is suspected to have managed to stay in Ligue 2 with match-fixing, with four games in particular at the heart of the investigation.

The decision of the LFP's disciplinary committee may be appealed to the higher commission of the FFF. "An appeal would have a 'suspensive effect' (of the LFP's decision), and it is difficult to anticipate the possible consequences of an appeal," said Sébastien Deneux.
