The Austrian public broadcasting group ORF acquired the exclusive audiovisual rights, in Austria, to Euro 2016 on 05/03/2015. These rights apply to all broadcast platforms and were acquired by the ORF from the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), stated the Austrian group on 05/03/2015.

"The price (of acquisition) is within our means and economically feasible," said Alexander Wrabetz, the CEO of ORF. The Austrian public broadcasting group had already acquired the rights, in Austria, to the qualification matches for Euro 2016 and the European zone qualification matches for the 2018 World Cup from the EBU.

  • Euro 2016 is the first edition of the European Championship with 24 participants instead of 16, which has been the case since Euro 1996 in England.
  • Austria is currently in first place in Group G (10 points) after four matchdays in the qualification for Euro 2016.
