Bundesliga: the Chinese group Huawei becomes an "exclusive partner" of VfL Wolfsburg

Huawei, the Chinese information technology and telecommunications group, has become an "exclusive partner" with VfL Wolfsburg (Bundesliga), the two parties announced at the CeBIT technology fair in Hannover (GER) on 16/03/2015.

Huawei will provide Wi-Fi access via its "Agile Stadium Solution" for the Volkswagen Arena (30,000 seats). The Chinese company already provides this stadium solution to FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

"Huawei’s Agile Stadium Solution allows fans inside the stadium to access the Wi-Fi network anytime, anywhere, significantly enhancing their game watching experience. This solution can also help the stadium operator to increase its revenue,” stated Joerg Karpinski, the director of sales for Huawei Germany.

The strategy of VfL Wolfsburg in the Chinese market

• The club went to Sanya (China) on 15 and 16/01/2013 for a friendly match during the 2013-14 winter break.
• VfL Wolfsburg also launched a Mandarin version (the most spoken language in the world, including one billion Chinese people) of its official website on 15/12/2014.
