Qatar 2022: EPFL "is very disappointed with FIFA decision", and ready to support legal action

"The EPFL is very disappointed with the outcome and final decision of the FIFA Executive Committee to stage the World Cup in November-December 2022. This is seriously damaging the European leagues both from a sporting and financial standpoint," stated the EPFL, following its general assembly at the Camp Nou in Barcelona (ESP) on 21/03/2015.

The FIFA Executive Committee confirmed on 19/03/2015 that the 2022 World Cup will be held in November-December and the final of the event will be scheduled for Sunday 18/12/2022. Since its inception in 1930, none of the 20 editions of the World Cup (21 including the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which will start on 14/06/2018 and end on 15/07/2018) have taken place outside the months of May, June and July.

"The EPFL is ready to support any legal actions that individual leagues may undertake in this respect in the near future," stated the organisation on 21/03/2015.
