Neymar case: 2 years and 3 months in prison for the president of FC Barcelona (tax offenses)

Two years and three months in prison for Josep Bartomeu, the current president of FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) and seven years in prison for Sandro Rosell, his predecessor at the head of the Catalan club, ruled the Spanish public prosecutor as part of the case regarding the transfer of the Brazilian player Neymar, announced the Spanish radio station Cadena Ser on 23/03/2015.

The two men are accused of tax offenses, plus a dishonest management misdemeanor charge for Sandro Rosell, who was president of the club during the 2013 offseason, when the transfer of Neymar from Santos (Brazilian Serie A) occurred.

The prosecution also ruled for a total of €33m in fines to the club and compensation from FC Barcelona, according to Cadena Ser.

• The prosecution had requested on 02/02/2015, the indictment of Josep Maria Bartomeu for alleged tax offenses of €2.8m for the 2014 financial year, regarding a payment of €5m for Neymar.
• Barcelona and its former president Sandro Rosell had, meanwhile, been charged with tax evasion on 03/06/2014.
