"A new financial distribution system was agreed for clubs competing in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, with a view to increasing solidarity payments, as well as payments to clubs in the UEFA Europa League for the 2015-18 cycle," announced UEFA on 23/03/2015. This decision was taken by the UEFA Executive Committee which met ahead of the 39th Congress of the European body in Vienna (AUT) on 24/03/2015.

"In summary, €2.24bn is available for distribution each season for the next three seasons. From this, €1.25bn will be given to teams competing in the UEFA Champions League, and €380m will be for teams participating in the UEFA Europa League," said Gianni Infantino, the UEFA secretary general. The money which is not distributed to the clubs, €610m, will be used in a solidarity package for European football and for the running costs of all UEFA competitions.

"The details of the agreement will be presented to the clubs on the occasion of the ECA general assembly, which will take place in Stockholm (Sweden) on Tuesday 31/03/2015," said UEFA.
