Michel Platini (FRA) was re-elected, by acclamation, as UEFA president for four years (2015-2019) at the 39th Congress of the European body, held at the Reed Exhibitions Messe in Vienna (AUT) on 24/03/2015. He was the only candidate for the post.

Michel Platini (59 years old) now begins his third term as the head of UEFA. He was first elected on 26/01/2007 in Düsseldorf (GER), defeating the incumbent, Lennart Johansson (SWE), and re-elected by acclamation as the only candidate in Paris (FRA) on 22/03/2011.

Michel Platini announced on 28/08/2014 that he would seek a third term as president of the European Confederation, and that he would not be a candidate for the presidency of FIFA in Zurich (SUI) on 29/05/2015 at the 65th Congress of the international body in Zurich (SUI).
