""We are certain the Royal Decree (for centralised selling of TV rights) will soon be signed," said Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish LFP, at the extraordinary general meeting of the league, organised at the Power8 Stadium in Barcelona, on 25/03/2015.

"This will prevent us from taking a different decision," said Javier Tebas, announcing that the LFP and Spanish clubs have decided not to strike. They had planned to protest the non-signing of the Royal Decree by the Spanish government to allow the collective marketing of the TV rights to the Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante (Spanish second division), from 2016-17. Several Spanish media outlets had explained that the clubs could go on strike during one matchday of the Liga BBVA to pressure the government and accelerate the adoption of the Royal Decree.

"This matter is by no means at a standstill as Miguel Cardenal (the Spanish secretary of state for sport), the Spanish government, politicians, fans and clubs are all in favour of the regulation of the sale and distribution of television rights. We believe there is a lack of understanding…
