Bundesliga: the League is considering introducing a broadcasting slot on Monday evening from 2017-18

The DFL is studying the possibility of introducing a new broadcasting slot for Bundesliga matches on Monday evenings from 2017-18, said Christian Seifert, the CEO of the German professional football league in Warsaw (Poland) on 19/03/2015.

"First of all, this idea is not entirely new. We already have Monday matches in the 2.Bundesliga. Second of all, we need to think about the future and forecast what can happen in a few years. Currently, as many as seven squads from the Bundesliga can compete in the European competitions, of which four can play in Champions League, and three in the Europa League. UEFA states that Europa League matches can only take place on Thursdays, and, as a result, it is impossible that the same side plays another match on Saturday, which is the most important matchday of the week in Germany," said Christian Seifert to Ekstraklasa.org, the official website of the Polish first division.
