Premier League: €237.5m in profits for clubs in 2013-14, after 15 years of losses (Deloitte)

The 20 Barclays Premier League clubs collectively have posted a record pre-tax profit of £190m 2013-14 (€237.5m on 30/06/2014), revealed a study by the Sports Business Group of the British branch of the audit and consultancy firm Deloitte on 26/03/2015. This amount is almost four times higher than the last time the Premier League clubs collectively posted a pre-tax profit in 1997-98 (£49m / €72m at the time). This record profit ends 15 consecutive seasons of collective losses. Premier League clubs have accumulated £2.6bn (€3.53bn today) in pre-tax losses since 2004-05, over the past 10 seasons.

The combined revenue generated by Premier League clubs totaled £3.3bn (€4.13bn) in 2013-14, an increase of 29% compared to 2012-13 (£2.5bn, €2.93bn at the time). This growth is due to start of the 2013-2016 cycle of the audiovisual rights to the Premier League, which made £1.563bn (€1.914bn) in TV and commercial rights for the 20 clubs in 2013-14, 61% more than in 2012-13 (£972m, €1.13bn).
