Premier League: CEO Richard Scudamore to become executive chairman in June 2015

Richard Scudamore, who has been the chief executive of the Premier League since November 1999, will become the executive chairman of the board of the English professional league, at the next general meeting of the organisation in June 2015, announced the Premier League on 26/03/2015. Alongside him, there will also be two independent non-executive directors, Claudia Arney and Kevin Beeston. This change in the structure of the board of the company was approved unanimously by its 20 member clubs.

The Premier League board has only had two members since its creation in 1992-93: a chief executive and a chairman position, the latter of which has been held since 01/06/2013 by Anthony Fry, who stepped down due to health reasons on 30/06/2014. Peter McCormick, the chair of the legal advisory group of the Premier League has served as acting chairman of the Premier League since Anthony Fry's departure.
