Twitter: Liga BBVA clubs have the most followers with a combined total of 34.8 million

With a combined total of 34.8 million followers, clubs in the Liga BBVA have the largest number of followers out of the Top 5 European leaguon the social network Twitter, according to figures compiled by New Tank on 01/04/2015. The Liga BBVA is followed by the Barclays Premier League with 27.6 million, the Serie A TIM with 8 million, Ligue 1 with 7 million and the Bundesliga with 5.3 million.

The Liga BBVA's 34.8 million total is largely due to the clubs FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF who, between them, account for 30 million (86.2%) of the twitter followers of the clubs in the Spanish first division. After these two, the most followed clubs in their respective leagues are Arsenal FC (5.57 million, Barclays Premier League), AC Milan (2.47 million, Serie A TIM), Paris Saint-Germain (2.09 million, Ligue 1) and FC Bayern Munich (1.99 million, Bundesliga).
