Real Madrid CF: stadium renamed "Bernabéu" with a view to future commercial agreements

Real Madrid CF (LALIGA EA Sports) has renamed its stadium (Madrid, ESP) from Estadio Santiago Bernabéu (in honour of the man who was president of the club from 1943 to 1978) to Estadio Bernabéu across all its digital environments (club website, stadium website, social networks) at the end of December 2024.

According to Spanish daily Marca on 27/12/2024, this change, which has not been communicated by the Madrid club, has been made with a view to future sponsorship agreements and commercial operations, including the arrival of a potential naming partner. The arrival of a partner for the naming of the stadium would, however, have to be approved by an extraordinary general meeting of the club's socios (members).

Real Madrid had invested €1.163bn in renovating the 84,744-seat stadium by 30/06/2024.
