DFB: a record 289,000 visitors for the German Football Museum (Dortmund) in 2024

The German Football Museum, located in Dortmund (Germany) and owned 50% by the city and 50% by the Deutscher Fussball Bund, recorded a record attendance of 289,000 visitors in 2024, up 40% on 2023, announced the DFB on 08/01/2025.

Ticketing revenue rose by 23%, while merchandising was up 70%, according to the DFB. These increases are due in particular to Euro 2024, which was held in Germany. "During the European Football Championship in Germany alone, 40,000 people visited the exhibition areas, including 2,715 on the new record day before the group match between France and Poland (1-1, 25/06/2024) in Dortmund."

"With over 200,000 visitors a year, the German Football Museum is one of the most popular cultural and leisure facilities in North Rhine-Westphalia. The proportion of visitors from catchment areas outside NRW is now over 40%. More than 10% of them come to Dortmund from abroad, most recently from 124 different countries," added the DFB.
