Olympique Lyonnais: DNCG's wage bill restrictions & a recruitment ban confirmed by the FFF

The Fédération Française de Football's DNCG appeals committee confirmed on 10/01/2025 the wage bill restrictions and recruitment ban imposed on Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's) by the LFP's Professional Clubs Control Committee on 15/11/2024. OL's appeal did not concern its precautionary relegation at the end of the current season, which was also ordered by the French League's DNCG.

These sanctions were initially imposed in application of article 11 of the DNCG's regulations, nine days after Eagle Football Group, owner of Olympique Lyonnais, presented its financial results for the 2023-24 financial year (from 01/07/2023 to 30/06/2024). These saw revenue from the club's activities reach €361.4m, up 25% on 2022-23 (€289.7m), and the net loss narrow to €25.7m, compared with a deficit of €99m at the end of the previous financial year. Nevertheless, OL's financial debt rose sharply in 2023-24 to €505.1m, compared with €458.5m a year earlier.
