France: L'Équipe to launch a sports betting & gaming platform on its app on 20/01/2025

The L'Équipe group will be launching an online video games area on its mobile application on 20/01/2025, Rolf Heinz, CEO of the sports media group, told the French daily Le Figaro on 12/01/2025.

The new platform will include quizzes, sports betting and a fantasy league game called "Le Championnat des étoiles" (Championship of the Stars). This expansion is part of the group's "Vision 2030" plan, with an investment of "several million euros" by 2025. The group is also planning to develop vertical video content for the social networks TikTok and Instagram.

"I want to double L'Équipe's audience across all its channels by 2030. We are therefore aiming for 500,000 digital subscribers by then, compared with 210,000 today. We want to grow from 11 to 20 million unique visitors to our website and from 100 million to 500 million views per month for our videos," said Rolf Heinz.
