Olympique Lyonnais: "Totally unfounded claims by John Textor" (Jean-Marc Mickeler, DNCG)

"John Textor persists in suggesting that the DNCG has misunderstood its model and applied unfair treatment to Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 McDonald's). These totally unfounded claims obscure the reality of a financial situation that calls for concrete and credible solutions," declared Jean-Marc Mickeler, president of the DNCG, in a press release published on 14/01/2025.

In doing so, he was responding to comments made by John Textor, the American owner - via Eagle Football Group - of Olympique Lyonnais, during an interview recorded on Saturday 11 and broadcast on Monday 13/01/2025 as part of the "Rothen s'enflamme" programme on RMC.

"I hope today will help the people understand more about the multi-club model. I think it's obscene that the DNCG doesn't give us credit for the multi-club model, because our cash that comes from different sources is legal under European law," said the American businessman.
