Olympique de Marseille: creation of a football team for amputees, the 1^st for a Ligue 1 club

Olympique de Marseille (McDonald's Ligue 1), via its Treizième Homme CSR programme, has become "the first Ligue 1 club to have a football team for amputees," said OM when it announced the creation of its new section on 18/01/2025.

The players in this team have been training since 19/01 at the OM Campus (Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône). The team will also play its home matches there, like Olympique de Marseille's youth and women's teams.

"Coached by former Olympique de Marseille player Romain Alessandrini, the team will compete in the French Amputee Football Club Championship, where first place is a ticket to the Champions League. Surrounded by a staff of three, the team is made up of nine players, several of whom are regulars in the national team."

The team was presented by club president Pablo Longoria to the fans at the Orange Vélodrome during the Olympique de Marseille - RC Strasbourg match on Sunday 19/01/2025.
