2030 World Cup: Rafael Louzán, president of the RFEF, travels to South America

"The president of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán, has embarked on a trip to Uruguay and Argentina with the aim of strengthening ties and forging closer collaboration with both national football federations. Uruguay and Argentina, together with Paraguay, will host the opening matches of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This is to mark the centenary of the inaugural World Cup, held in Uruguay (in Montevideo in 1930), as the tournament begins in these nations before continuing in Morocco, Portugal, and Spain," announced the Spanish Federation on 20/01/2025.

"Uruguay and Argentina contested the final of the first-ever FIFA World Cup (4-2, on 30/07/1930), held on 30/06/1930," recalled the RFEF.

After meeting Ignacio Alonso Labat, president of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF), and visiting Montevideo's Centenario Stadium on 20/01/2025, Rafael Louzán is due to meet Claudio Tapia, his Argentine counterpart (AFA), on Tuesday 21/01/2025.
