Liverpool FC (Premier League) posted a turnover of €686m for the 2022-23 financial year (from 01/07/2022 to 30/06/2023), 6.4 times higher than that of LOSC Lille (Ligue 1 McDonald's) who generated €107m, as the two clubs prepare to face each other on Matchday 7, the penultimate matchday of the new Champions League campaign on Tuesday 21/01/2025 (kick-off at 21:00 CET) at Anfield (Liverpool, ENG).

The English club, which has not published its financial results for the 2023-24 financial year (to 21/01/2025), posted a net loss of €8m in 2022-23 and a wage bill of €383m, while the French club posted a net profit of €29.9m and a wage bill 5.2 times lower at €73m.

LOSC Lille have a positive balance of €384m for transfers involving players not from the academy who have been both recruited and permanently sold since 2015. No other club has a better record over the period. According to the CIES Football Observatory, LOSC spent €234m acquiring players and generated €617m in revenue from the resale of these same players.
