The 2.Bundesliga has posted a record average attendance of 30,329 fans per game after 19 matchdays (out of 34) in the 2024-25 season, compared with an average of 29,109 fans at the same point the previous year, according to the DFL on 27/01/2025.

After 171 matches played out of a total of 306 scheduled, a total of "over 5 million people" have visited the German second division's stadiums. Matchday 19 also saw the 2.Bundesliga set another record: the best-attended matchday in its history, with a total of 322,468 spectators attending the nine games, an average of 35,830 per match. The previous record was set on Matchday 24 of the 2023-24 season, with an average of 33,983 spectators.

This record attendance was made possible in particular by the 71,500 fans who gathered at Berlin's Olympiastadion for the Hertha BSC - Hamburger SV match and a sold-out Veltins Arena (62,278 capacity) for the Schalke 04 - 1.
