FIFA TMS: a record 22,779 international transfers (+4.4%) & $8.59bn spent (-11%) in 2024

Men's professional football clubs spent $8.59bn (€8.24bn as of 31/12/2024) in international transfer fees during 2023, a sum down 11% on the record set in 2023 ($9.6bn/€8.7bn), for a record total of 22,779 international transfers (+4.4%), according to the Global Transfer Report 2024 published by FIFA on 30/01/2025.

"An all-time record of 78,742 international player transfers were completed in 2024 across men's and women's professional and amateur football. Almost 40% of all transfer spending in men's professional football was accounted for by the top 2.5% of transfers, which included fees of at least $20m per transfer. Clubs from England were both the number one spender and the number one recipient of transfer fees in 2024, with $1.88bn (€1.8bn) spent on incoming transfers and $1.34bn (€1.28bn) received for outgoing transfers. In terms of the total number of transfers, Brazilian clubs were in the lead with 1,102 incoming and 1,113 outgoing transfers," explains the report from FIFA TMS, the platform that records international transfers.
