Suspension of Morocco: CAF will implement the decisions of the CAS "despite contradictions"

"CAF, which joined the authority of the jurisdiction of the CAS, has committed to implementing the decisions and will comply with this ruling despite the contradictions observed in the CAS decision," said the African Football Confederation on 05/04/2015, following the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, published on 04/02.2015, to cancel several penalties imposed by CAF on the FRMF (Royal Moroccan Football Federation).

On 06/02/2015, CAF had decided suspend Morocco for the next two editions of AFCON (African Cup of Nations) in 2017 and 2019, and to impose a fine of $1m (€882,000) and to charge the FRMF the sum of €8.05m as compensation for all material damage suffered as a result of the decision of the Moroccan federation to not organise the 2015 edition of AFCON because of the outbreak of the Ebola virus. "The sanctions imposed by the CAF on the FRMF have been set aside, with the exception of the fine, which is however reduced to $50,000 (€46,000 on 04/02/2015)," said the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 02/04/2015.
