DFB: "10 key demands for German football" ahead of the Bundestag elections

"Additional and concrete measures are urgently needed at federal level to ensure that the full potential of football for society is realised," stated the German Football Association (Deutscher Fussball Bund) on 03/02/2025.

With a view to the elections to the Bundestag (lower house of the German parliament) to be held on 23/02/2025, the DFB has presented its "10 key demands for German football", which include the establishment of a Minister of State for Sport within the government, the implementation of a federal plan to modernise sports facilities, tax relief for non-profit organisations, the promotion of energy-efficient renovation at clubs and the development of sport in schools.

"Federal policy also has a central role to play in promoting grassroots and amateur football in Germany. The outstanding social importance of football, with its more than 7.7 million club members, must be much more strongly recognised," added the German FA, which is also urging its members to go to the polls for these federal elections.
