Transfers 2024-25/CIES: Leeds top the table (+€132m), Lens in 2nd (+€106m), Brighton last (-€253m)

Brighton & Hove Albion FC (Premier League), who spent €317m over the two transfer windows (summer & winter) in 2024-25 and generated €64m in revenue, are the club with the most negative balance over the period at -€253m, according to the CIES Football Observatory's "Weekly Post", published on 05/02/2025.

Brighton were ahead of Ipswich Town FC (Premier League, -€176m) and Al-Nassr FC (Saudi Arabia, -€175m), according to the CIES ranking, which takes into account "the 100 most active clubs on the transfer market until 04/02/2025". Nine English clubs and five Saudi Arabian clubs make up the top 20 teams with the greatest transfer losses.

Leeds United FC (Sky Bet Championship), on the other hand, have the best balance in 2024-25, with a profit of €132m (€161m generated, €29m spent). RC Lens (Ligue 1 McDonald's, €106m) and Burnley FC (Sky Bet Championship, €101m) complete the podium. Of the top 20 clubs, five are French, four English and three Belgian.
