"As part of its ongoing fight against piracy, which threatens the entire sporting ecosystem, the LFP has taken another step forward by obtaining several orders from the President of the Paris Judicial Court (Stéphane Noël), issued on 16/01/2025," announced the Ligue de Football Professionnel on 04/02/2025.

"These decisions, aimed at reinforcing the effectiveness of existing blocking measures, concern both search engines (Google and Bing) and alternative DNS (Domain Name System) services. The aim is to step up the fight against circumvention of the blocking measures already put in place by ISPs, by combining two complementary levers: dereferencing of pirate sites by search engines and blocking access via DNS services used to circumvent ISP restrictions," explained the French League.

In its 2024 report on the fight against piracy, published on 28/11, Arcom estimates that the loss of revenue from sports piracy in France amounted to €290m in 2023, or 15% of the revenue generated by legal sports platforms and broadcasters (€1.9bn).
