FIFA: a record 5,863 international transfers & $2.35bn spent during the 2025 winter transfer window

Men's professional football clubs completed a record 5,863 international transfers during the 2025 winter transfer window (data from 01/01 to 04/02/2025), up 19.1% on the previous record set in 2024 (4,716), according to the "International Transfer Snapshot" report on the latest transfer market published by FIFA on 07/02/2025.

A total of $2.35bn (€2.26bn) was spent on transfer fees during the period, up 57.9% on 2024. This makes 2025 the most lucrative winter transfer window ever, surpassing that of 2023 ($1.57bn/€1.46bn).

English clubs lead the way in terms of spending, with a total of $621.6m (€599m). In terms of revenue generated, French clubs ($371m/€357m) top the table. Brazil was the country that recorded the most arrivals (471), while Argentina topped the list for outgoing transfers, with 255 departures.

Women's football also set two records:
• 455 international transfers were made (+22.6% compared with 2024);
• total payments reached $5.8m (€5.6m), an increase of 180.6% compared with 2024.
