LFP: criteria for measuring clubs' environmental footprint included in the 2025-26 Club Licence

"A criterion on the collection and transmission of environmental data, to guarantee a better methodological framework", as well as "harmonisation of the criterion on the carbon footprint, to ensure more accurate and reliable monitoring of the environmental impact of clubs thanks to annual implementation and a common methodology": these are the two "major" changes concerning the 2025-26 Club Licence that the Ligue de Football Professionnel announced on 12/02/2025.

The initiative, which aims to measure the environmental footprint of French professional football more accurately and adapt its strategy to reduce its impact, is based on a working group of pilot clubs made up of the CSR referents of seven Ligue 1 McDonald's clubs (AS Monaco, AS Saint-Étienne, Montpellier Hérault SC, Olympique de Marseille, Olympique Lyonnais, Paris Saint-Germain RC Lens) and one Ligue 2 BKT club (FC Annecy), according to the LFP.
