NFL: antitrust lawsuit against the League, which prohibits franchises from opening a Bluesky account

Americans Patrick Brown and Collin Vincent, fans of the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks respectively, are taking legal action against the National Football League because it does not allow its franchises to open an account on the social network Bluesky, according to the American media outlet Puck on 11/02/2025.

Patrick Brown and Collin Vincent state in their complaint that "some fans do not want to have to follow their teams on Elon Musk's X platform and should be free to decide that they do not want to do business with a particular outlet or brand."

The complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, also states that "a league policy barring teams from using Bluesky violates antitrust law and should be enjoined by a federal judge". This comes after the recent closure, at the NFL's request, of the New England Patriots franchise's account on Bluesky, a social network founded in 2019 by Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former CEO of Twitter (now called X).
