The OTT platform DAZN is claiming €309m for "fraudulent misrepresentation" and €264m for "breach of contract" from the Ligue de Football Professionnel, for a total of €573m, as reported by RMC Sport and L'Équipe on 19/02/2025.

DAZN brought proceedings against the LFP before the Paris Economic Activities Court on 30/01/2025. The streaming service, which holds the domestic TV rights to eight (out of 9) live games per Ligue 1 McDonald's matchday over the 2024-2029 cycle for an average of €400m per year, "believes that it has been misled by the League regarding the product it has purchased and considers that the figures for the number of subscribers in the previous cycle and the revenue generated are far removed from reality," according to RMC Sport regarding the "misleading goods" claim.

With regard to the "breaches observed" and the €264m demanded, DAZN believes that "the LFP is not doing everything it can to reduce piracy and believes that the clubs’ marketing commitment to enable DAZN to make a success of its debut has not been honoured."

This new procedure comes after the LFP's board…
