Spain: Luis Rubiales, former president of the RFEF, fined €10,800 for "forced kiss" on J. Hermoso

Luis Rubiales, president of the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol between 17/05/2018 (the date of his election) and 10/09/2023 (the date of his resignation), has been found guilty of the "offence of sexual assault" and sentenced to "an 18-month fine of €20 per day" (i.e. €10,800) in the "forced kiss" case, according to a press release from the Audiencia Nacional, the Spanish court before which the criminal trial was held from 03 to 14/02/2025.

Rubiales is accused of having kissed Jennifer Hermoso, a striker for the Spanish national team, without her consent, during the presentation of the Women's World Cup 2023 trophy to La Roja on 20/08/2023. Luis Rubiales is also prohibited from approaching the player within 200 metres or communicating with her for a period of one year. Jennifer Hermoso has been playing in the Mexican league for Tigres since January 2024.
