The American was interviewed the day after the publication on the sports daily's website of the sometimes heated exchanges between several club presidents, including Nasser Al-Khelaïfi (Paris Saint-Germain), Joseph Oughourlian (RC Lens), Jean-Pierre Caillot (Stade de Reims) and John Textor himself, held during the board meeting organised by video conference on 14/07/2024. The purpose of the meeting was to vote on the choice of DAZN and beIN SPORTS as broadcasters of Ligue 1 for the 2024-2029 cycle.
