Italy/Piracy: 30,000 pirate sites blocked since the launch of the Piracy Shield in February 2024

"According to the latest AGCOM data, 30,000 pirate sites were blocked in 10 months of the Piracy Shield platform's activity (active since 01/02/2024). Law enforcement operations recently led to 11 arrests with over 2,500 illegal sports content distribution channels seized with a monthly turnover of €250m," announced Lega Serie A on 21/02/2025.

Ezio Simonelli and Luigi De Siervo, respectively president and CEO of Lega Serie A, together with Paolo Bedin, president of Lega Serie B, and Federico Bagnoli Rossi, president of FAPAV, met in Milan (Lombardy, ITA) "to take stock of the effects of the new anti-piracy law and define new actions to combat the illicit phenomenon linked to sports content", on 21/02/2025.
