German professional football: 150,000 jobs supported & €4.6bn in tax revenue generated in 2023-24

"Over the course of the 2023-24 season, the professional football ecosystem provided almost 150,000 full-time jobs, which is more than the global number of full-time jobs provided by 34 of the 40 companies in the DAX 40" - this is just one of the key findings from "More than just a game - The economic and social importance of the Bundesliga" a study conducted by the strategy consultancy McKinsey & Company and published by the DFL on 27/02/2025.

Among other key figures from this study, the fourth of its kind after those in 2010, 2015 and 2020:
• "Every euro generated by the clubs resulted in further added value of €2 on average in related areas, for example with marketers, broadcasters or suppliers to the clubs;
• For 41% of German citizens, professional football is an important part of their lives;
• In 2023-24, German professional football generated added value of €14.2bn, 30% more than in 2018-19;
