Serie A: €74m in sporting debt must be covered for Parma FC to play in the Serie B in 2015-16

A new owner would have cover €74m in sporting debt for Parma FC to play in the Serie B in 2015-15, according to Italian media on 09/04/2015. If the club -- which was declared bankrupt by the court of Parma on 19/03/2015, and is virtually certain to be relegated from the Serie A TIM in 2014-15 -- cannot find a new owner and/or investors to cover the sporting debt, the club will likely not receive a 2015-16 license from the Lega Serie A, and would thus have to start over from the lower, amateur tiers of Italian football (it was not made clear at exactly which level the club would need to be re-launched).

The court-appointed bankruptcy trustees for the club, Angelo Anedda and Alberto Guiotto, met with the FIGC and the Lega Serie A in Rome (ITA) from 01 to 02/04/2015. Among the topics discussed in creating a pathway for Parma FC to play in the Serie B in 2015-16 were the possibility of "parachute payments" for the club, according to Italian media.
