French professional football: "Economic model & governance in need of reform" (P. Diallo, FFF)

"I expect this meeting to be both a lucid wake-up call and, above all, the foundation of a movement that should lead French professional football to undergo in-depth reform. In-depth in the analysis of its economic model and in its governance," declared Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, at the end of the "meeting of French professional football stakeholders" organised on his initiative at the headquarters of the Fédération Française de Football (Paris, FRA) on 03/03/2025.

The meeting brought together the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs, the Ligue de Football Professionnel, CVC Capital Partners, the fund behind the creation of the commercial company LFP Media, and the DNCG.

Three working groups are to be set up this week. "One group will deal with governance, another with financial control and a third with economic strategy. These groups will be led respectively by Marc Keller, president of RC Strasbourg Alsace, Baptiste Malherbe, president of AJ Auxerre, and the economic strategy group by the duo of Ivan Gazidis and Damien Comolli, owners of AS Saint-Étienne and Toulouse FC,…
