Women's Euro 2025: stakeholders commit to protecting human rights

UEFA, the Swiss Federal Government, the Association suisse de football (SFA) and the eight host cities of Women's Euro 2025 have published a declaration committing them to "respect, protect and promote human rights" during the competition (organised in Switzerland from 02 to 27/07), on 02/03/2025.

The drafting of this declaration, which will apply to all stakeholders (players and coaches, officials, staff, volunteers and supporters), was overseen by the competition's Human Rights Advisory Council, created at UEFA's initiative on 10/12/2024. The Council is made up of "representatives from civil society, diversity and inclusion experts, public authorities, national associations, and former players," according to the European Confederation. A similar body was set up for Euro 2024 in Germany, and was involved in drafting a "declaration of human rights" for the tournament, signed by UEFA, the DFB, the German federal government and the ten host cities.
