Champions League/Round of 16 (first leg): head-to-head Borussia Dortmund - LOSC Lille on 04/03/2025

With a turnover of €509.1m for the 2023-24 financial year (from 01/07/2023 to 30/06/2024), Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) have revenues (excluding transfers) six times higher than those of LOSC Lille (Ligue 1 McDonald's, €83.7m), as the two clubs prepare to face each other in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie on Tuesday 04/03/2025 (kick-off at 21:00 CET) at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund (Germany).

In 2023-24, Dortmund had a wage bill of €268m, compared with €68m for their French rivals. The latter posted a net profit of €17.3m at the end of the financial year, compared with a net profit of €44.3m for BVB.

Dortmund's squad is valued at €473m according to the Transfermarkt website as of 04/03/2025, compared with €297m for Lille's squad. An analysis of the net transfer market balances of the two clubs since 2014-15 by the CIES Football Observatory puts them both in a very profitable position: €391m for LOSC and €109m for BVB over the period.
