Euroleague Basketball: new financial regulations including a luxury tax from 2025-26

Euroleague Basketball has presented "a comprehensive set of regulations designed to enhance the current financial stability and fair play regulations" which will be phased in from the 2025-26 season before coming fully into force for the 2027-28 season, announced the body on 05/03/2025.

These new Competitive Balance Standards (CBS) will be based on the average income of the 13 clubs holding an "A licence", which is required to play in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. This amount (Average Licensed Clubs Defined Revenues, ALCDR), calculated for each financial year on the basis of the previous three seasons, is set at €19.489m for 2025-26.

The ALCDR will be used in particular "as the reference point for determining club's upper thresholds and the mandatory minimum spending level on players' remunerations". Euroleague Basketball has defined three levels with which clubs will have to comply:
