European Leagues: Claudius Schäfer (SUI) elected president for 2025-2029 & LALIGA reinstated

Claudius Schäfer (SUI), CEO of the Swiss Football League and vice-president of European Leagues since November 2023, has been elected president of the governing body for the 2025-2029 cycle, it announced at the end of its 50^th general assembly in Frankfurt (Germany) on 06/03/2025. The president, who has been a member of the European Leagues board since 2015, succeeds Pedro Proença, who has been in office since December 2023.

The event, hosted by the DFL, "brought together representatives from all 40 member leagues, alongside executives from major football stakeholders, at a pivotal moment for the governance and evolution of the football industry". During the general assembly, which marked the organisation's 20^th anniversary, members "formally approved the readmission of LALIGA as an ordinary member of the European Leagues" meaning that all five of the European Top 5 leagues are once again represented on the body.
