UEFA: record revenues of €26.8bn for European clubs in 2023 (up €2.9bn on 2022)

Clubs in Europe's top divisions posted record revenue of €26.8bn in 2023, an increase of €2.9bn in one year, and are expected to exceed €29bn in cumulative revenue in 2024, according to UEFA's "The European Club Finance and Investment Landscape" report, published on 07/03/2025.

The €26.8bn in revenue for clubs in 2023 is broken down as follows:
• commercial revenue: €8.9bn (34% of the total);
• TV rights: €8.2bn (30%);
• matchday: €4bn (15%);
• UEFA grants: €2.9bn (11%);
• other: €2.7bn (10%).

"There has been a slowdown in the number of transactions of controlling investment in European top-division football clubs," states the report, which includes a section dedicated to investment within clubs. Indeed, while 48 top-flight clubs changed ownership in 2022, 44 acquisitions were recorded in 2023 and only 23 in 2024.
