CAF: Patrice Motsepe (RSA) re-elected president; Samuel Eto'o (CAM) joins the executive committee

Patrice Motsepe (RSA), born on 28/01/1962, was re-elected by acclamation as president of the Confederation of African Football for a second four-year term (2025-2029), at CAF's 14^th Extraordinary General Assembly, in the presence of FIFA president Gianni Infantino, in Cairo (EGY) on 12/03/2025.

He was the sole candidate. "This unopposed re-election reflects both confidence in his leadership and the desire to see him elevate African football to new heights," said the African body.

"The goal remains making African football globally competitive, stabilizing finances, and investing in infrastructure," declared Patrice Motsepe.

Samuel Eto'o, president of FECAFOOT (Cameroonian Football Federation), was also elected to the CAF Executive Committee by acclamation (as the sole candidate of UNIFFAC, his Central African ”zonal union”). His candidacy had been rejected on 25/01/2025 on ethical grounds, in particular because he had become an ambassador for a sports betting company, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned this decision on 07/03/2025.
