UEFA: 15% of top flight clubs have betting operators as main shirt sponsors in 2024-25

15% of clubs in Europe's top leagues have a sports betting operator as their main shirt sponsor in 2024-25, according to UEFA in its annual report "The European Club Finance and Investment Landscape" published on 07/03/2025.

This figure is down 8 points on 2023-24 (23%). Within this sponsorship space, bookmakers are ahead of the retail and services sectors (12% each).

Of the 21 leagues included in the report, sports betting operators are the most represented industry among the club's main shirt sponsors in nine countries, including England, with 13 Premier League clubs under contract in 2024-25.
• The Premier League clubs have collectively agreed to ban sports betting operators as main shirt sponsors from the 2026-27 season.
• This will also be the case in Belgium from 01/01/2028, where betting operators are also the most visible industry on the Jupiler Pro League clubs' shirts in 2024-25.
• While other countries, such as the Netherlands, are also considering regulatory measures, the ban is set to be lifted in Italy, where it came into force for Serie A Enilive clubs in 2019-20.
