Olympic Games/United States: NBCUniversal extends its TV rights for the 2033-2036 cycle ($3bn)

NBCUniversal, an American media and entertainment conglomerate (owned by Comcast), has extended its exclusive broadcasting rights to the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in the United States for the 2033-2036 period, announced the IOC on 13/03/2025.

NBCUniversal is currently paying $7.65bn (€7.02bn) for the rights to broadcast the Olympic Games in this territory for the 2022-2032 cycle. The Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 Olympic Winter Games and the 2036 Olympic Summer Games (host to be confirmed) will be added to the existing broadcasting agreement between the IOC and NBC for an additional $3bn (€2.75bn), according to the IOC.

NBC will also become a "strategic partner" of the IOC from 2025. This partnership includes several elements:
• "building on Comcast’s expertise in technology infrastructure, connectivity and media to support the delivery of the Olympic Games;
• support for the in-venue distribution of the live TV coverage of Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS);
• support to OBS in the production of the Olympic Video Player;
