UEFA Children's Foundation: girls' empowerment programme launched with Mastercard

The UEFA Children's Foundation and the American payment solutions group Mastercard have launched "Girls4Football", an initiative aimed at young female players aged between 8 and 16 designed to "empower young girls through football and the acquisition of essential life and financial management skills," announced the two parties on 18/03/2025.

This programme is being rolled out in the European Top 5 (France, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and Spain) with the support of a local charity partner. The scheme "combines football sessions with educational workshops. The aim is to offer a comprehensive approach to development and prepare the girls with essential tools for their future, such as money management principles and self-confidence," explained UEFA, of which Mastercard has been an official partner for the Champions League since the 1994-95 season.

In France, the programme is being set up with the NGO Bibliothèques Sans Frontières (Libraries Without Borders). The first action was carried out in collaboration with Olympique Lyonnais' women's team (Arkema Première Ligue), for which…
