DNCG: cumulative revenue of €2.87bn & a loss of €269m for French professional football in 2023-24

The 38 clubs in Ligue 1 McDonald's and Ligue 2 BKT posted cumulative revenue (excluding transfers) of €2.872bn in 2023-24, an increase of 8% compared to 2022-23 (€2.662bn, albeit with 40 clubs). This is one of the key figures in the DNCG report on the "situation of French professional football" published by the Ligue de Football Professionnel on 18/03/2025.

The 38 clubs in the top two divisions posted results excluding transfers of -€984m in 2023-24, a slight improvement on the previous year (-€1.059bn). Revenue from transfer operations, i.e. player transfers, was also up (+8% to €805m), enabling clubs to post a net loss of -€269.5m, slightly down compared to 2022-23 (-€281.7m).

All the clubs' other revenue streams were also up:
• other income including merchandising:+18%, from €812.6m to €962.4m;
• sponsorship and advertising: +5%, from €745m to €782.3m;
• match revenues: +5%, from €288.8m to €302.9m;
• audiovisual rights: +1%, from €814.6m to €824.4m.

The total wage bill for the 38 French professional clubs remains virtually stable, rising from €1.617bn in 2022-23 to €1.628bn in 2023-24…
