UNFP: launch of a solidarity committee chaired by Robert Pirès & provided with €500,000 each year

The UNFP has launched a solidarity committee, which will be chaired by former international Robert Pirès (winner of the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with France). The eight-member committee (see below) will be provided with €500,000 per year, announced the French National Union of Professional Footballers on 24/03/2025.

This solidarity committee, which will have its own decision-making powers while being supported by the UNFP on organisational issues, will set up projects based on three pillars:
• social: helping players in difficulty;
• training: supporting players in their dual project or with a view to their retraining;
• societal: supporting actions of general interest carried out by players and/or associations.

"The €500,000 for the first financial year has been set aside from previous (UNFP) financial years, and I hope that we will be able to provide more in future years. That will depend on the situation of French professional football, as 1.09% of TV rights are earmarked for the UNFP.
