The organisers of the four Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open, Roland-Garros, Wimbledon & US Open) have rejected a proposed reform of the governance of professional tennis drawn up by the ATP and the WTA, according to a report by the American media outlet The Athletic on 21/03/2025.

This overhaul of the circuit's structure would include the creation of a new management structure consisting of three representatives for the Grand Slam tournaments, two for the ATP and WTA Masters 1000, one for the 500 and 250 tournaments, as well as six player representatives (three for the ATP, three for the WTA) and a president. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) would not be represented on this body, which would be financed by pooling part of the revenues from sponsorship and the marketing of TV rights (including international rights) of the parties involved.

The reform project also includes a change to the professional circuit calendar, with the aim of eliminating around 40 tournaments a year and providing for four Grand Slams, ten ATP and WTA Masters 1000 (including a new tournament…
