Stadiums: "A complicated bureaucratic process in Italy & there's no state aid" (G. Marotta, Inter)

"In the last 10 years, 153 stadiums have been built in Europe, including three in Italy. The bureaucratic process is complicated in our country. Inter and AC Milan are willing to invest heavily despite the fact that Italy is the only country where there is no state aid. I'm more sceptical about the process, there are timeframes to be respected because investors can wait but not much longer," said Giuseppe Marotta, president and CEO of FC Inter Milan (Serie A Enilive), in Milan (Lombardy, ITA) on 01/04/2025.

"The day after we submitted our purchase proposal, a complaint was lodged with the Public Prosecutor's Office, which quite rightly came to us. We are therefore faced with a number of difficulties that are far removed from pure investment," he adds.

AC Milan and FC Inter Milan have submitted a joint proposal to the Milan City Council for the acquisition of the Stadio Giuseppe-Meazza (in the San Siro district to the west of the city) and its surrounding areas, according to the two clubs on 11/03/2025.
